Mohammad Nahid Islam, Advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, as well as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has emphasized the need to prevent waste while ensuring that expectations are met in the implementation of various ongoing projects. Many of these projects are expected to be completed during the tenure of the interim government, and he urged careful attention to ensure their successful execution.

The advisor made these remarks on Monday during a review meeting on the progress of projects included in the Annual Development Program (ADP) for the fiscal year 2024-25, held at the conference room of the Department of Information and Communication Technology. The review covered progress up to September 30, 2024.

Nahid Islam stressed the importance of continuing ongoing projects with development partners and ensuring that necessary adjustments or reforms are made, if needed, to achieve the desired outcomes. He urged everyone to remain vigilant to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe.

He further added that maximum efforts should be made to ensure that the projects are timely, relevant, and effective. There have already been many proposals and new ideas, and efforts are being made to integrate them with the ongoing projects.

In his opening address, Shish Haider Chowdhury, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, highlighted the urgent need to enhance the capacity of data centers. He mentioned that 80% of the current data center capacity has already been utilized. Due to security concerns, many organizations are now seeking to store their data with the Bangladesh Computer Council. If this can be facilitated, the revenue of the Bangladesh Computer Council will increase.

During the meeting, heads of offices, agencies, and project directors/deputy directors under the Department of Information and Communication Technology presented the implementation plans, challenges, and the latest progress of their respective projects.
